Nutrition Counseling 1:1
What to Expect
As registered dietitians (RDs), our role is to provide medical nutrition therapy (MNT)—an evidence-based, therapeutic approach that addresses the underlying factors contributing to a challenging relationship with food or body. While nutrition education and exploring the science behind food are important parts of the healing process, they are only one piece of the puzzle. Examining negative body image beliefs, learning to tune into the body’s internal cues, and gently challenging rigid food rules are equally essential components of care.
Individual Counseling
Assessments
Initial assessments are an opportunity for us to get to know one another and typically last about 90 minutes. During this session, I gather a comprehensive understanding of your child’s overall health while exploring their relationship with food. The conversation may be wide-ranging and in-depth, covering areas such as medical history, sleep, gut health, mental health, relationship with movement, diet culture, and body image—always guided by everyone’s comfort level. Together, we will develop an individualized plan to support consistent, adequate nourishment that aligns with your values and long-term goals.
Follow-Ups
Follow-up sessions typically last 30–60 minutes and are often scheduled weekly, though frequency and length will vary based on your individual needs and circumstances. These sessions provide space for ongoing education, unconditional support, and gentle accountability as you and your child move forward in your journey. In addition to nutrition guidance, we will explore supportive tools beyond food that are essential for maintaining balanced, sustainable eating habits.
